Abdelaziz Bouteflika reelected to a fourth term as president of the Republic

The president of the Republic, Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, was reelected to a fourth term with 81.53% (8,332,598 votes) of the votes cast, Minister of Interior and Local Governments Tayeb Belaiz announced today.

ELECTION DAY : IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE COMMUNITY

The Embassy of Algeria in Washington wishes to inform the community living in the United States that, while polling station in Washington, D.C. (Embassy headquarters) and New York City (Consulate General of Algeria) will open on April 12, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., all other polling stations will open on April 13, 2014.

Application Period for Proxy Voting in the Presidential Election of April 17, 2014

Algerian citizens living in the United States and duly registered on the electoral list of the Embassy of Algeria area hereby informed that, in keeping with the provisions of Organic Law 12-01 of Jan. 12, 2012, on the election system, and namely Article 57, that the period for application for proxy voting in the presidential election of April 17, 2014 shall begin on Jan. 30, 2014 and end on April 8, 2014.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE COMMUNITY (1)

Pursuant to the provisions of Organic Law 12-01 of Jan. 12, 2012, on the electoral system, namely Article 14, and in compliance with the Presidential Writ of Election setting convocation of the electors for Thursday, April 17, 2014, an exceptional revision of electoral lists is set to take place from Thursday, Jan. 23 to Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014.
