Environment: Algeria invested over USD2 billion in 15 years

BATNA- The minister of Environment and Renewable Energy Fatima Zahra Zerouati said Monday, in Batna, that Algeria has invested, over the last 15 years, more than 2 billion dollars in environment.
Chairing a meeting with the representatives of the civil society, and officials of her department at the environment centre, the minister considered these investments and the established legal arsenal allowed promoting the sector of environment.
"We must move on to a new step that will include the exploitation of these investments to boost economic growth and make environment a sector that generates wealth and employment," she said.
Furthermore, she noted that "the public authorities provided facilities and opened doors to investors according to an approach true to the new economic vision and thus, by further involving citizens, who are an important and fundamental link in the chain of lasting development."
