Hydrocarbons: Increase in production in Q3 2016

ALGIERS- The overall production of hydrocarbons increased in the 3rd quarter of 2016 compared with the same period of 2015, with the exception of crude oil refining, the National Office of Statistics (ONS) told APS.

The overall production of hydrocarbons increased by 1.4% from July to September 2016 compared with the same period in 2015, while it fell by 2.4% in the 2nd quarter of 2016 compared with the same quarter in 2015.

By category of hydrocarbon production, that of crude oil and gas increased by 3.6% in the 3rd quarter of 2016 against a rise by 0.5% in the 2nd quarter.

Concerning natural gas liquefaction, the production increased by 0.2% in the 3rd quarter of 2016 while it dropped sharply by 20.7% a quarter previously.

The refining of crude oil experienced poor performance in the third quarter of 2016 by dropping by 6.1% while it increased by 5.3% in the 2nd quarter of 2016.

The overall production of hydrocarbons rose by 0.8% in the first nine months of 2016 compared with the same period in 2015.
