ALGIERS- The first crossing on the sea line, exclusively meant for export, between Algiers and Mauritania's capital Nouakchott began Monday from the port of Algiers.
This new line, supervised by Anisfer Line, a company specializing in maritime transport, will reduce the time taken to export to Mauritania to five days, according to the company's director general, Mustapha Hamadou.
The official made the announcement during the launch ceremony of the crossing, attended by representatives of the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Industry and the Directorate-General for Customs.
Every 20 days, the company organizes a new trip on this line to export various Algerian products to Mauritania, as well as to other neighboring African countries.
During this first voyage, locally-manufactured building materials were transported aboard the ship "Imedghassen," belonging to the Algerian company GMA, and which has a shipping capacity of 1000 containers.
Hamadou said the opening of this maritime line, the first direct line to Africa, will allow Algeria to export its various products to the African continent in a record time.
He added that it will offer the best conditions to preserve goods and protect them from damage, stressing that the operation was carried out "with 100% Algerian capabilities."
