Tourism: Strategy to promote destination Algeria to be drawn up shortly

ALGIERS- Four workshops have been organized with tourism sector actors, as part of the first mission of international expert in tourism marketing and economic development, David Ward-Perkins. The workshops were intended to draw up a marketing and promotion strategy to boost the tourist destination 'Algeria', said on Wednesday a communiqué from the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Family Work.

These workshops focused on the main lines on which the tourism marketing strategy is based, as part of a "prospective" vision aiming the achievement of global development goals, said the same source.

Held from January 27 to 31, this mission focused on the drafting of a "marketing and promotion strategy for the tourist destination 'Algeria', as part of the execution of the cooperation programme between the Ministry, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the implementation of the national tourism orientation plan in its component relating to the promotion of the tourist destination 'Algeria'.

The workshops were attended by officials from the Ministry of Tourism, other ministerial departments, economic operators, social partners, journalists, teachers and researchers, according to the same source.

As a vital sector of services, the ministry said that it attached great importance to this project in order to draw up a marketing and promotion strategy for the Algerian tourist destination.
