ORAN-The 9th High-Level Conference on Peace and Security in Africa kicked off on Wednesday in Oran, under the theme "Support to the new African members of the United Nations Security Council in dealing with peace and security issues in the African continent."
The conference kicked off under the chairmanship of Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the High-Level Conference on Peace and Security in Africa for this month, Geoffrey Onyeama, and in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra (host country).
The conference is being attended at a high level, including at the ministerial level, by member states of the African Union Peace and Security Council (AU), as well as by African members of the UN Security Council, in addition to experts and high-level representatives from African and UN bodies.
It aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the African Peace and Security Council and the African members of the UN Security Council in the performance of their tasks, including the defense of Africa's common positions and interests in UN Security Council decision-making on peace and security issues relating to the continent.
