ALGIERS- Algeria welcomed on Saturday the truce reached by the parties to the conflict in Yemen, hoping that this initiative constitutes an "important step" to come to a lasting agreement that guarantees a comprehensive solution to the crisis in this country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said in a statement.
"Following the communiqué of the UN Secretary General's Personal Envoy for Yemen, announcing a two-month truce in this country as from the beginning of the month of Ramadan, Algeria welcomes this initiative and hopes that it constitutes an important step to reach a lasting agreement which guarantees a comprehensive settlement of the crisis in the brotherly country Yemen," said the statement.
"While welcoming once again this initiative, Algeria reaffirms its support to all the efforts and initiatives aimed at reaching a political solution, notably the consultations held currently in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf initiative and its implementation mechanisms and the conclusions of the inclusive national dialogue, in order to achieve a sustainable reconciliation that preserves the unity and independence of Yemen and restore security, stability and peace in the whole region," added the source.
