ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra received Sunday in Algiers UN special envoy for Libya, Jan Kubis, with whom he discussed the prospects for peace in Libya on the eve of a meeting of Libya's neighboring countries scheduled over two days in Algiers.
In a statement to the press after the meeting, Jan Kubis said that the initiative of Algeria to bring together the neighboring countries of Libya is "important and appropriate."
The UN envoy wished "to have a pragmatic and honest dialogue on how to help Libya and also on how Libya could help itself and help the region to reach stability, prosperity and cooperation.
Regarding the Libyan file the UN envoy said that "the issues and concerns are interrelated," calling for taking advantage of the consultations and cooperation of Libya with neighboring countries and international organizations.
