ALGIERS-Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra on Tuesday evening flew to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) with a large delegation to participate in the 39th Ministerial Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a communiqué.
"Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra on Tuesday evening flew to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) to partake in the 39th Ministerial Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council that brings together the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of all member states," said the source.
"The Council will focus on the issues relating to the implementation of the Agenda 2063 and the prospects for strengthening cooperation between the countries of the continent in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. It will also discuss common African action and the ways to enable the continental institutions like the African Parliament to fulfill their mission," said the Ministry.
"The participants will also finalize the setting up of the AU Commission following the elections of two commissioners, set the main theme of the upcoming summit and approve the AU budget for 2022," said the source.
On the sidelines of the Executive Council, "Lamamra will hold talks with the highest authorities of the host country and African counterparts, several officials of the AU Commission and various continental bodies and institutions."
