APS - 24 May 2016
ALGIERS - Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra said Tuesday in Algiers that the consolidation of the parliamentary diplomacy in the last revision of the constitution constituted a "qualitative leap" in the progress of the diplomatic action tools.
Speaking during the International colloquium on "Challenges of the new parliamentary diplomacy," the foreign minister emphasized the ”efficient” role of the Algerian parliament as "a support to the governmental diplomacy which aims at fulfilling the citizens’ expectations and cope with the regional and international events.”
"This role has been strengthened as part of the revision of the constitution," said Lamamra, who welcomed the role played by the Algerian parliament, with its two Houses, to preserve the harmony of the national positions and promote the steady principles of our foreign policy, notably in the hard circumstances.
This policy of the Algerian nation defined by the Constitution is based on constants which are the peaceful and political settlement of conflicts, the support to just causes in the world and the non-interference in the internal affairs of the countries, concluded Lamamra.
