Sabri Boukadoum on visit to Italy

ALGIERS- Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum paid Thursday a visit to Italy at the invitation of his Italian counterpart, Luigi Di Maio, the ministry said in a statement.

The discussions between the two sides focused on "the timetable of the bilateral cooperation, especially the upcoming Algerian-Italian high-level meeting in Algeria and the state visit the Italian President will make to Algeria at a later date," the statement said.

In addition to bilateral economic partnership and its promising prospects, the two ministers discussed a "number of issues of common interest, including the situation in Libya."

The two sides discussed ways and means to contribute to resolving Libya crisis, in view of the dangerous deterioration of the situation on the ground and its serious repercussions on the settlement efforts and the security of neighbouring countries."

The discussions showed a "convergence of views on the need for swift action to reach agreement on an immediate ceasefire and resumption of inter-Libyan dialogue, for a comprehensive political solution ensuring the unity and sovereignty of Libya and achieving the legitimate aspirations" of its people, according to the statement.
