APS - 06 July 2020

ALGIERS- Minister of Mujahedeen Tayeb Zitouni reaffirmed Monday, in Algiers, the State's determination to complete the recovery operation of the remains of all martyrs that are still in France, "to bury them in the land for which they sacrificed their lives in order to liberate it."

In his speech in the ceremony organized on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of Algeria's Independence under the slogan "Together to build the new Algeria" and which took place in the presence of members of the government and representatives of national organizations, Zitouni stressed the determination of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune to complete the recovery operation of the remains of all the martyrs that are in France, in order to "bury them in the land for which they devoted their lives to liberate it, especially as this issue is related to the national Memory."

In this respect, he said that this issue "was handled within well-studied frameworks and with wisdom and clear-sightedness," the minister underlined that the celebration of this day "coincides this year with another victory which is added to the series of victories won by the Algerian people, after the historical announcement by President Tebboune of the recovery of the remains of 24 heroes of the popular resistance and their companions, in order to bury them in the land for which they devoted their lives."

He called on "Algeria's valiant children to remain faithful to the martyrs' oath and to take them as an example in terms of commitment to the values, principles and ideals of the Nation to continue the State's building process," affirming that the generation of the independence "is conducting the struggle of construction and renewal, despite the exceptional health conditions facing the country, a battle as important as the struggle for freedom and independence."
