ALGIERS- The national strategy of research and innovation on artificial intelligence 2020-2030 was presented Monday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Supervising the meeting, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Abdelbaki Benziane affirmed that this strategy aims to "develop Algerian expertise in artificial intelligence through teaching, training and research as well as by strengthening these capacities as a development tool enabling the socio-economic sectors to iron out the obstacles hindering the current digital transition."
This strategy aims, in the next few years, to improve the performance in a number of priority segments, like higher education, health, transport, energy and technologies.
It will also allow the rapid execution of development programmes and projects, the emergence of an innovative work environment, the support of initiatives and the increase in productivity.
The aforementioned strategy is meant to build a sound basis in terms of research, implement the latest techniques of artificial intelligence in different fields and to better use the existing human and material resources, said the minister.
He also emphasized the need to combine efforts to make from this strategy a tool to master the knowledge economy through the empowerment of the society, notably students, to master artificial intelligence and the new technologies in order to build the innovation society and prepare a skilled generation.
