ALGIERS- Maurice Audin Mathematics Award has been awarded to researchers Mortadh Mohamed Hicham of Ahmed Ben Bella University of Oran and Professor Ali Moussaoui of Abou Bakr Belkaid University of Tlemcen, the ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said in a statement.
The award ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Center for Research on Scientific and Technical Information (CERIST), under the chairmanship of the minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Abdelbaki Bouziane, the statement said.
The Maurice Audin Mathematics Award is given each year to an Algerian and a French researcher for the best research in mathematics, the statement added.
Professor Mortadh Mohamed Hicham (Oran University) and Professor Ali Moussaoui (Tlemcen University) are the winners of the 2020 Maurice Audin Award.
Speaking on this occasion, the minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research said that "the promotion of teaching and research in mathematics is not done through legislative texts but rather through reflection, the establishment of a medium and long-term strategy, mobilizing all the means necessary for the development of teaching and research in mathematics by breathing new life into it.
