Pfizer launches awareness campaign on lung cancer in Algeria

ALGIERS- An awareness campaign on lung cancer for patients and all the population in Algeria has been launched by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, the American company announced Wednesday in a statement.

This one-month campaign aims at raising awareness among patients about early diagnosis, the possibilities of treatment and the progress in terms of lung cancer, said this company, underlining that lung cancer "causes most deaths in Algeria."

It consists in "improving the results for patients, increasing biomarker tests and reducing the high mortality rates."

Pfizer said that "lung cancer, which is the first cause of deaths in the world, is difficult to treat because of its heterogeneous nature, variability of testing rates and the development of drug resistance."
