DAKAR-The Algerian judo team won three medals (1 silver and 2 bronze) on Day 1 of the 42nd African Senior Championships held Thursday in Dakar (Senegal).
Wail Ezzine won the silver medal in the category (-66 kg) after he defeated Egyptian Ahmed Abdelrahman in the final.
The two bronze medals went to Yasmine Halata (-57 kg) and Mohamed Rebahi (-60 kg).
The second Day of competition, scheduled for Friday, will witness the participation of four Algerian judokas: Amina Belkadi (-63 kg), Souad Belakehal (-70 kg), Fethi Nourine (-73 kg) and Houd Zourdani (-73 kg).
210 judokas representing 40 countries, including 18 Algerians (nine men and nine women) take part in the African Senior Championships (May 20-23) in Dakar.
