Coronavirus: 163 new cases, 136 recoveries, 4 deaths

ALGIERS- One hundred and sixty-three new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), 136 recoveries and four deaths have been reported over the last 24 hours in Algeria, the spokesman of the scientific committee for monitoring the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Djamel Fourar, said Monday in Algiers.

The number of confirmed cases in Algeria amounts to 113.255, including 163 new cases (0.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) in the past 24 hours, the number of deaths to 2987 and that of recovered patients to 78.234, Fourar said in his daily press briefing on the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He added that 22 patients are under intensive care.
According to the health official, 23 provinces have reported less than nine cases, five others recorded at least 10 cases and 20 provinces have had no positive cases in the last twenty-four hours.

Dr. Fourar stressed that the current epidemiological situation requires vigilance and observation of the rules of hygiene and physical distancing.

He recalled "the obligation of compliance with the lockdown and wearing of masks."
