ALGIERS- A total of 148 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), 116 recoveries and three deaths have been reported over the last 24 hours in Algeria, the spokesman of the scientific committee for monitoring the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Djamel Fourar, said Wednesday in Algiers.
The number of confirmed cases in Algeria amounts to 115,688, including 148 new cases (0.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) in the past 24 hours, the number of deaths to 3048 and that of recovered patients to 80,219, Fourar said in his daily press briefing on the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He added that 17 patients are under intensive care, Dr Djamel Fourar added.
According to him, 20 provinces have reported less than nine cases, three others recorded at least 10 cases and 25 provinces have had no positive cases in the last twenty-four hours.
The health official stressed that the current epidemiological situation requires vigilance and observation of the rules of hygiene and physical distancing.
He recalled "the obligation of compliance with the lockdown and wearing of masks."
