ALGIERS- Two hundred and thirty-nine new confirmed cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19), 186 recoveries and three deaths have been reported over the last 24 hours in Algeria, the spokesman of the scientific committee for monitoring the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Djamel Fourar, said Monday in Algiers.
The number of confirmed cases in Algeria amounts to 107,578, including 239 new cases (0.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants) in the past 24 hours, the number of deaths to 2894 and that of recovered patients to 73,530, Fourar said in his daily press briefing on the progress of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the health official, 21 provinces have reported less than nine cases, five others recorded more than 10 cases and 22 provinces have had no positive cases in the last twenty-four hours.
He added that 29 patients are under intensive care.
Dr. Fourar stressed that the current epidemiological situation requires vigilance and observation of the rules of hygiene and physical distancing.
He recalled "the obligation of compliance with the lockdown and wearing of masks."
