ALGIERS- Two Algerian nationals, coming from France and the United Kingdom, have tested positive for the Omicron variant, bringing to four the total number of confirmed cases in Algeria, the Pasteur Institute of Algeria said Sunday in a statement.
The two new cases were detected "as part of the sequencing activity of the SARS-CoV-2 virus by the Pasteur Institute of Algeria," said the source, adding that they are two Algerian nationals who came from France and the United Kingdom.
These two cases tested positive after undergoing a PCR test in the reference laboratory of the Pasteur Institute of Algeria, said the source.
Algeria has recorded four confirmed cases of Omicron so far.
