The North African Star was an Association founded, by a core of emigrant workers, in Paris in June 1926 and militates since its creation for the independence of Algeria. This Association became, later, a political party whose most famous members are: Hadj Ali Abdelkader, Messali Hadj, Mohammed Djefel, Si Djilani Mohammed, Mohammed Marouf Djilali Chbila, Mohamed Benlakhal…etc. The Emir Khaled El-Hassani, Grandson of Emir Abd El-Kader, was the Honorary President.
After a hardening of the anti-colonialist speech and a separation from the French Communist Party in 1928, the North African Star was dissolved, by the French authorities, on November 20th, 1929.
