The revolt of the Sheikh El Mokrani and Sheikh El Haddad occurred on March 16, 1871 in Algeria. It is considered by historians as the most important insurrection against the French colonial power since the beginning of the conquest of Algeria in 1830 by the mobilized population, more than 250 tribes rise up, a third of the population of the Algeria and its geographical extent covering Kabylia, the Highlands and the Cherchell region. It is led from Kabylie and Bibans (Bordj Bouarreridj) by Sheikh El Mokrani and his brother Boumezrag, as well as by Sheikh El Haddad, head of the brotherhood of Rahmaniya.
