ALGIERS-A ceremony to honor the winners of the first edition of the President's Award for Amazigh Literature and Language took place Tuesday in Algiers in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the creation of the High Commission for Amazighity (HCA).
The first edition of this prize concerns four areas namely, linguistics, scientific, technological and digital research, literature expressed and translated into Tamazight as well as research on the intangible Amazigh cultural heritage.
After assessing 106 works, the jury, chaired by Youcef Nacib, decided to award the winners of the first three prizes that went to Yacine Meziani, Toufik Djeroud and Booukharroub Rachid. The first prize in the category of research on the intangible Amazigh cultural heritage was not awarded while researcher Ali Hedjaz snatched the second prize.
Speaking at this ceremony held at the International Conference Center (CIC), attended by members of the Government, the Mediator of the Republic Karim Younes, the advisors of the President of the Republic and representatives of various security corps, the HCA Secretary General Si El Hachemi Assad praised the efforts and interest of the President of the Republic who personally ensures the support of creativity and reflection in the field of Amazigh literature and language."
In the same vein, Assad said that the President of the Republic's Prize for Amazigh literature and language "reflects the interest of the Algerian State in developing and promoting the Amazigh language."
