Hammadi kicks off desert tourism season from Tamanrasset

TAMANRASSET-Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Yacine Hammadi kicked off Saturday from Tamanrasset the new season of desert tourism (2021-2022).

Speaking at the launch ceremony of the desert tourism season in the tourist region Taguemart (30 km from Tamanrasset), the minister stressed that the region of Ahaggar "has been chosen for its richness and tourism potential, nestled in the Ahaggar National Cultural Park, which also contains multiple tourist circuits.

"The Ahaggar has a special importance because of its population with great virtues and hospitality, drawn from its authentic, and several times secular, habits and customs," he continued.

Hammadi reiterated the willingness of its services to support all tourism operators to "achieve sustainable tourism development."

For his part, the Chairman of the Committee on Culture, Communication and Tourism at the People's National Assembly (Lower House), Ahmed Guemama said that "the revival of desert tourism will help improve the socio-economic conditions of the local population and promote the Algeria destination Algeria, as a global tourism product."

The local authorities seized this opportunity to erect desert tents where exhibitions of Takouba (popular dance with the sword) were held with melodious pieces of the secular song of Tindi and a camel race.
