ALGIERS- Algeria is the guest of honour, along with five other African countries, at the second China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo that opened Sunday in Changsha, the capital of the central province of Hunan, China.
Algeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa and Senegal are the guests of honour at this four-day event, being held under the theme "New Start, New Opportunities and New Accomplishments."
During the opening ceremony, held via video conference, Chinese leaders reiterated the willingness of Chinese companies to forge economic partnerships with African countries in order to build a "sound" economic base according to the "win-win" principle.
They said that China wants to deepen trade with Africa and further strengthen bilateral cooperation, calling on African operators to seize the opportunities offered by the Chinese market.
China-Africa industrial cooperation needs to be "strengthened" and accompanied by an intensification of partnerships in new areas, such as the digital economy and human resource training, they stressed.
