ALGIERS- Several countries and organizations offered on Tuesday their congratulations to the Algerian government and people on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the independence, stressing the deep historical relations they have with Algeria.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken extended, on behalf of his country's government, "his best wishes to the government of Algeria and its people on the anniversary of Algeria's independence on July 5," underlining that "our ties stretch back to the 1975 Treaty of Peace and Amity."
Since then, added Blinken, "the Algerians and Americans have developed strong and growing economic, educational and cultural connections."
"I visited Algeria in March to discuss with President Tebboune and Foreign Minister Lamamra how we can continue to deepen these ties," he said.
"To this end, the United States appreciated being the country of honor at the recent Algiers International Fair and looks forward to advancing our shared economic and security interests. I congratulate Algeria on this important day and extend my best wishes," concluded the message of the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
For his part, the Saudi Foreign Minister posted on his Twitter a photo of the Algerian and Saudi flags with the date of 5 July and the text "We congratulate the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on the occasion of the anniversary of independence."
Qatar's Foreign minister offered his congratulations to "Algeria on the occasion of the Independence Day," accompanying his message with the photo of the Algerian and Qatari flags.
For his part, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates tweeted "We congratulate the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on the occasion of the day of independence."
The message was shared by the Indian diplomacy which offered its "congratulations to the Algerian government and people on the occasion of their independence day."
Extending also its "congratulations on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Algeria's independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations" between the two countries, Turkey accompanied its message posted on twitter by a photo of the Algerian and Turkish flags and a reminder of trading volume between the two countries.
Romania extended "its best wishes to the Algerian government and people on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Algeria's independence," reiterating "its willingness to revitalize the relations with Algeria in all aspects."
Pakistan offered its "heartfelt congratulations" to the Algerian government and people on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Algeria's independence.
The Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit congratulated President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune on the 60th anniversary of independence, wishing "further progress and prosperity to the Algerian people."
