ALGIERS- Special Envoy for Western Sahara issue and Maghreb Countries Amar Belani underlined Monday that the return of Algeria's ambassador to Madrid "will be decided sovereignly by the Algerian authorities as part of prior and frank clarifications to rebuild a seriously damaged trust."
In a statement to APS, Belani affirmed that "the return of Algeria's ambassador to Madrid will be decided sovereignly by the Algerian authorities as part of prior and frank clarifications to rebuild a seriously damaged trust on the basis of clear and predictable principles that comply with the international law."
As regards those who bank naively on "a temporary anger of Algeria, they are not in tune with reality," he said.
Speaking about the declaration of the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Belani said "these statements were made with a disconcerting flippancy, corresponding with the will of exempting from the heavy personal responsibility in the adoption of this sudden change of position on the issue of Western Sahara which breaks with Spain's traditional balanced position."
