ALGIERS- Algeria is a "reliable" and a "key" economic partner that has "always honored its commitments" towards Spain, affirmed Thursday, in Algiers, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares Bueno.
"Algeria is a key economic partner for Spain, and it has always been a reliable partner that has honored its commitments. I was also reassured today about the continuity of the supply (of hydrocarbons)," said Albares Bueno after the audience that was granted to him by President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Affirming that the two countries aspire that their economic cooperation reaches "the desired level," the Spanish head of diplomacy expressed the "wish" that the two countries "raise their energy partnership to innovative sectors that will enable steering towards the energy transition."
At the political level, he underlined "Spain's willingness to start the preparation for the next high-level meeting that will be held in Spain," and that will enable "identifying the innovative sectors, notably the renewable energy, agriculture and shipbuilding industry."
Albares Bueno said that he transmitted to President Tebboune the messages of friendship of the Spanish King and Head of Government, pointing out "the strategic character of the relations between the two countries that are not only neighbors but also friends."
Concerning the relations of Algeria with the European Union, he said that "Spain is always ready to work for the beneficial deepening (of these relations) for all the sides," reiterating that "Spain will continue to further strengthen its relations with Algeria."
