ALGIERS- The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, expressed Monday, in Addis Ababa, Algeria's willingness to continue the close collaboration with Ethiopia as part of the strategic partnership between the two countries, in order to achieve the common goals at both bilateral and continental levels, to achieve peace, security and sustainable development in Africa, the ministry said in a statement.
"Representing the president of the Republic in the inauguration ceremony of the new Ethiopian government Monday, in Addis Ababa," Lamamra conveyed "the warm congratulations of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune to his brother the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, sworn in for a second term in office following his party's victory in the parliamentary elections last June."
The Foreign Minister reiterated "Algeria's readiness to continue its close collaboration with Ethiopia in the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries, with a view to achieving common objectives at the bilateral and continental levels, according to the African Agenda for Peace, security and sustainable development."
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, for his part, expressed his appreciation of the participation of Algeria in this major event in the history of contemporary Ethiopia, and asked Lamamra to convey his fraternal greetings to President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune."
Abiy Ahmed expressed his "commitment to the strategic partnership between the two countries and his aspiration to lay its foundations and extend it to other fields in the best interests of both peoples, and thus contribute to achieving the priorities of the African continent," the statement said.
