These consultations, which are part of Algeria's efforts in its dual capacity as leader of the international mediation and Chairman of the Agreement Monitoring Committee (AMC), are mainly aimed at enabling the Malian parties to give new impetus to the peace and reconciliation process in Mali, following the promising results of the 45th session of the AMC held on 6 October in Bamako.
In this regard, the signatory movements' representatives will discuss the strategic objectives of the agreement, including issues of reintegration of combatants from the movements as well as political and institutional aspects.
The representatives will also discuss the other two pillars of the agreement, namely development and justice issues.
These meetings are of great importance as they are being held on the eve of the national re-foundation meetings that will determine the outcome of the transition process in Mali.
