Lamamra-Wang working session in Dakar

DAKAR-Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra held a working session with the State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi, on the sidelines of his participation in the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa.

Wang Yi conveyed to Lamamra the warm greetings of the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, which he addressed to the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Lamamra stressed the major importance attached by President Tebboune to the strategic partnership with the People's Republic of China and the need to strengthen its regional and continental dimension by speeding up the implementation of major structural projects under the cooperation agenda between the two countries.

The two FMs reviewed several items on the agenda of the Sino-African ministerial conference, including China's mega projects in several areas in Africa over the next three years, which were announced Monday by the Chinese President.

In addition, Lamamra commended the efforts and support of China to the countries of the continent to curb the Covid-19 pandemic through aid granted to several countries to partially meet the needs of the African continent in this area, in addition to the partnership with Algeria for the local production of vaccine which started in late September.

Discussions between the two ministers also focused on several regional and international issues of common interest. They expressed their satisfaction with the convergence of views of the two countries.

They stressed the need to intensify consultations on the latest developments on the regional and international political scenes.

At the invitation of his Chinese and Senegalese counterparts, Lamamra attends the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa in Dakar.
