Washington appreciates Algeria's efforts for regional peace, security

NEW YORK- The United States appreciates Algeria's efforts for regional peace and security, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland Said Monday.

"The US appreciates Algeria's efforts to promote regional peace and security," the US official tweeted after her meeting in New York with the minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community abroad, Ramtane Lamamra.

Describing her conversation with the head of Algerian diplomacy as "constructive," Nurland said they focused on "Western Sahara, Libya, Mali and the Sahel."

The two officials also discussed US investment in the renewable energy sector in Algeria, according to the US Under-Secretary of State.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of Ramtane Lamamra's participation in the 76th UN General Assembly meeting.
