ALGIERS- Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Kamel Beldjoud on Sunday at the headquarters of his department, his Libyan counterpart Khaled Tijani Mazen who is on a one-day working visit to Algeria.
In a statement to the press at the end of the meeting, the Libyan Minister said that the two parties agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the Interior Sector, announcing the installation technical committees between the two ministries in order to address a number of issues, including police investigation and prosecution of nationals of both countries.
The meeting was also an opportunity for both ministers to discuss the reopening of border posts in order to ease the movement of Libyan and Algerian goods, with a view to contributing to price suppression, particularly in Libyan south, added Mazen.
For his part, Beldjoud said that he and his Libyan counterpart have addressed coordination between the two ministries in several areas, and have agreed on a number of issues.
According to the minister, "the two parties agreed to reopen the land border post, "Debdeb," and to strengthen coordination in terms of police and civil protection training, stressing the pursuit of joint action and coordination between the two ministries in the future in the best interest of both brotherly peoples and countries sharing the same history."
The meeting took place in the presence of director general of National Security (DGSN), Zineddine Farid Bencheikh and managers of the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning.
