President Tebboune chairs welcome ceremony of remains of popular resistance martyrs

ALGIERS- President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired Friday, at the international airport Houari Boumediene, the ceremony organized on the occasion of the repatriation of 24 remains of the martyrs of the popular resistance, repatriated from France on a military aircraft escorted by fighters coming under the Air Forces of the People's National Army, said a communiqué of the National Defense Ministry.

"President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired, on Friday 3 July 2020, at the international airport Houari Boumediene, the ceremony organized on the occasion of the repatriation of 24 remains and skulls of valiant martyrs of popular resistances which were repatriated from France on a military aircraft escorted by fighter jets coming under the Air Forces of the People's National Army.

The remains and skulls of valiant martyrs were welcomed with the military honors, including 21 cannon shots, sounding of sirens of warships coming under the Naval Forces as well as parachute jumps with the national flag," said the source.

"After the military honors to the remains of our valiant martyrs, the first chapter of the Noble Quran (surat al-Fatiha) was recited in their memory before the singing of the national anthem with its five couplets. Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, Major General Said Chanegriha made a speech on this occasion," added the National Defense Ministry.
