Major General Hasnat Belkacem, Interim Director of the Employment-Preparation Department supervised the opening ceremony of this Unit, which was attended by general officers and executives of the Ministry of National Defense in addition to specialists and university researchers.

He stressed in his opening remarks that the organization of this Unit is very important, especially given the current upsurge of cyber-attacks on the one hand, their rapid development, and the difficulty of identifying the parties who commit them on the other hand.

Cybersecurity poses a major challenge to our Armed Forces and we must address it to ensure the protection and security of operational systems against the various threats and cyber dangers that the world witnesses," said the source.

According to the Ministry, this training session, which takes place in Algeria in the form of conferences hosted by Algerian military and civilian executives, specialists in cyber security and cyber defense, brings together representatives of member countries of the "5 + 5 Defense" Initiative, said the statement.

"The event will shed light on technical and operational issues, such as mechanisms for cooperation and coordination between countries in the region for a joint effort to address cybersecurity-related challenges and engage in a process to create a coherent legal body that adapts to cyber security.
