ALGIERS- The National Day of Algerian Muslim Scouts will be celebrated on May 27th, 2021 to emphasize the role of the Algerian Muslim Scouts (SMA), a school that gives lessons in patriotism, solidarity and mutual aid.
It was Mohamed Bouras who founded the first scout group "El Fallah" in 1935. Four years later, he set up the Federation of Algerian Muslim Scouts (SMA).
The National Day of Algerian Muslim Scouts coincides with the anniversary of the death of Mohamed Bouras, executed by French colonial forces on May 27, 1941 in Algiers.
President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, took the decision last March to dedicate May 27 the National Day of Muslim Scouts to "preserve the national memory and strengthen national solidarity."
Commander General of the Algerian Muslim Scouts (SMA), Abderrahmane Hamzaoui, said that the celebration of the National Day of Muslim Scouts "strengthens" the role of scout associations in the society.
