President Tebboune orders 20% cut in accommodation costs for returning Algerians

ALGIERS-President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Supreme Chief of Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence on Sunday has given instructions to reduce accommodation costs by 20% for returning Algerians, said the communiqué of the Council of Ministers.

After listening to a report read by the prime minister on the Government's activity over the two previous weeks at the Council of Ministers meeting held on Sunday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has order to "exempt students and low-income elderly among Algerians returning to the country from paying accommodation and isolation fees," and "to lower accommodation fees by 20%."

Air Algerie announced Saturday in a press release the flight schedule and travel fees following the decision to reopen air borders partially.

The airline confirmed the resumption of flights as from June 1st, 2021 with a Constantine-Tunis-Constantine flight (on Fridays), Algiers-Istanbul-Algiers (on Sundays), Algiers-Paris (ORLY)-Algiers (on Tuesdays and Thursdays), Algiers-Marseille-Oran (on Saturdays) and Algiers-Barcelona-Algiers (on Wednesdays).

Air Algerie set ticket prices as follows: Tunis 591 Tunisian dinars round trip (including taxes), Istanbul US$686 round trip (including taxes), Paris €518 roundtrip (including taxes), Marseille €391 roundtrip (including taxes) and Barcelona €317 roundtrip (including taxes).

As for the isolation fees set at DZD41,000 (including taxes), they are equivalent in foreign currency (applicable only to foreign destinations), and cover the cost of transport to the isolation area, accommodation with full board and the COVID test at the end of the isolation period.

The exemption from isolation costs is limited to two children under 12 per family.

In addition to a confirmed airline ticket on the booked flight, travelers over 12 years old must have a negative COVID RT-PCR test dating back to less than 36 hours prior to the date of departure (in Arabic, French or English). They must present it at check-in and hand it upon arrival.
