Africa Youth Fencing Championships: Algerians clinch two new medals

CAPE COAST (Ghana)- Algerian fencers won Wednesday two new medals (1 silver and 1 bronze) on the third day of the Africa Youth Fencing Championships, to run until February 29 in Cape Coat, Ghana.

The silver medal was snatched by Meriem Mebarki, who lost to Egyptian Hany Noha (11-15), while the bronze medal went to Guemmar Nihal, defeated by her compatriot Mebarki in the semi-final 8-15.

On the event's first two days, Monday and Tuesday, Algeria got four medals (two gold, one silver and one bronze). Algeria's gold medals were grabbed by Adem Dani (sabre) as he outclassed Egyptian opponent Mohamed Cherkaoui (15-06) and by Sonia Zeboudj (foil) who defeated Egyptian Malek Hamza (15-12).

The silver medal went to Cherif Kraria (epee), while the bronze was won by Kaouther Mohamed Belkbir (sabre).
