African Tennis Championship (U14): Algerian Badache wins title

SOUSSE (Tunisia)-The Algerian Maria Badache won the African title of U14 after her success in two sets (2-0) against the Tunisian Shahd Tourkhani in the final of the African Tennis Championship (U14/boys and girls), which wrapped up Sunday in Sousse (Tunisia).

Badache, seeded N3, won the first set 7-6 against the Tunisian, seeded N4, and dominated easily the second 6-2.

In the semifinals, played Saturday, Badache qualified at the expense of the Moroccan Sofia Haddab, seeded N.2 in two sets (7-5, 7-5).

Contacted by APS, Badache expressed his joy after her continental victory in Tunisia. Thank God, I won the African title in my category today. I admit that the final was difficult but I did not give up and spared no effort until the end. I thank all the people who supported me and I offer this title to the Algerian people.

The other Algerians Imene Ghettas and Wissal Boudjamaoui were eliminated in the first round after their defeat respectively against the Moroccan Sofia Hadab, seeded N.2 (6-0, 6-0) and the Egyptian Hassan Essaad Hassan (6-2, 6-3).

For his part, Chakib Laiham lost in the second round to the Tunisian Zakaria Hamrouni, seeded N.2 (6-2, 6-2). In the first round, Laiham had dominated the Botswana Teo Moalosi in two sets 6-4, 6-2.
