Golden Glow boxing tournament: Algeria wins five medals, including two gold

ALGIERS- Algerian boxers Younes Nemouchi and Chouaib Bouloudinats won the two Algerian gold medals at the 63rd International Elite Men Boxing Tournament "Golden Glow" in Sombor, Serbia, that wrapped up Sunday, and in which Algeria ranked second with five medals (two gold, two silver and one bronze), the Algerian delegation said Monday.

In the 75kg category, Younes Nemouchi beat Ukraine's Rybalko Dmytro in the point final, winning not only the gold medal but also the title of the best boxer of the entire tournament.

In the semifinals, Nemouchi defeated Poletan Sandro of Serbia (3-2).
For his part, Chouaib Bouloudinats (+91 kg) beat Serbian Veletic Dusan in the final, after having eliminated Ghanaian Jababu Maji (5-0) in the semifinals.

The two Algerian silver medals were won by Osama Mordjane, who was dominated in the 57 kg final by Eduard Trofymenko of Ukraine, and Chemseddine Kramou (69 kg) who lost the final to Abasov Vakhid of Serbia.

Pugilist Yugurtha Beka (69 kg) settled for the bronze medal after losing to Russia's Abbasov Vakhid (1-4).

Forty-one boxers competed in the event, representing Africa (Algeria and Ghana), America (Cuba) and Europe (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Moldova, Macedonia, Russia, Ukraine and Serbia).

Seven Algerian boxers, including two ladies, booked a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, namely Mohamed Houmri (81 kg), Chouaib Bouloudinats (+91 kg), Mohamed Flissi (52 kg), Younes Nemouchi (75 kg) and Abdelhafid Benchebla (91 kg) among the gentlemen, Romaïssa Boualem (51 kg) and Imane Khelif (60 kg).
